Teresa Raile Wofford, granddaughter of Peter and Katherina Raile, and daughter of Edwin and Wanda Raile, died of complications from the flu at the age of 41. Her husband, Brian Wofford, and their eight children have struggled over the years dealing with their loss. Brian dedicated himself to his children and sacrificed where ever he could to see that his children could pursue their dreams.
Today the kids are involved in lots of activities, including playing basketball and volunteering with their church. But playing the role of dad/basketball coach/chauffeur has left Brian little time to run his chiropractic practice. He has had to scale back his work hours to be available to his kids, and now struggles to make ends meet. The house repairs went unattended and, although he may be a master with his hands clinically, he admits that he is "all thumbs" when it comes to making home improvements. With the girls sharing a room where their beds are stacked on top of each other and the boys living in the partially converted garage/laundry room, adding more space to the house was a priority for the EMHE team.
North Coast Calvary Chapel, the Wofford's church nominated the family to ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and in July 2004, the family's modest three bedroom, single level home was demolished and a new two story 4,600 sq ft. home was built in one week.
